Created by a Danish couple, the characteristic toys, Christmas elves and accessories have charmed their way into homes all over the world. It all started with a Danish Christmas elf in clay. The elf was popular but fragile; to make it sturdier, designer Dorthe Mailil transformed it into the long, instantly recognizable fabric figure which Maileg is today synonymous with.
