The owner of Prestholt Geitestøl, Reidar Stenberg, who runs it with his wife Kjersti, says that their products received much recognition after he helped set up Bondens Marked (‘Farmers Market’) in Oslo in 2003 – 13 years after he started his brown cheese production in Prestholt. Despite making a range of products, including white goat’s cheese, brown goat’s cheese, kid meat, cured goat’s legs, and pralines made using goat’s milk – the brown cheese is undoubtedly the star of the show. “People normally like that it’s very mild and relatively sweet – which means that it can be enjoyed by anyone, young or old,” explains Stenberg.
