In 2006, Ingrid and Mogens Brinkmann were wondering what to do with themselves, returning to Denmark having spent the past 27 years in Greenland. The couple, who both had long careers within accountancy, were looking for a nice, relaxing alternative to retirement. So naturally, they decided to leap into a completely new industry and bought a restaurant in Sønderborg, southern Jutland. “We have a lot of people come in because they’ve heard of ‘Kong Frederiks Livret’ and want to satisfy their curiosity,” says Mogens, referring to the restaurant’s specialty, ‘King Frederik’s Favourite Dish’.
