Skokloster Castle

English novelist Jane Austen has been celebrated for her novels exploring women’s dependence on marriage in the pursuit of social standing and economic security. Despite their historic setting, Austen’s stories include situations still of interest in today’s society, and her books have inspired famous films with the likes of Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth, who became famous overnight for his role as Mr. Darcy. 2017 marks the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s death and she will be celebrated extensively across the world. Skokloster Castle will be hosting Jane Austen’s World with iconic costumes from films based on her novels Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion and Emma.
