“Umeå School of Architecture is characterised by a vision to work in both local and global contexts. We are located
in the north of Sweden, in a rural and relatively sparsely populated region, at a time of extensive globalisation,” says Ana Betancour, rector at UMA, Umeå School of Architecture. The teachers come from within the region as well as from other parts of the world, something that opens possibilities for a broad and diverse perspective. The aim is to educate future architects who can work for social change towards a sustainable society, departing from an ethical approach to the profession.
