Open six evenings per week, Glenn Miller Café in Stockholm has an impressive range of modern jazz concerts. In addition to fantastic professional performers, the jazz club offers French-inspired cuisine and an intimate atmosphere. When in Stockholm, be sure not to miss this gem.
Glenn Miller Café combines live jazz, French food and an intimate atmosphere – bang in the centre of Stockholm. It’s been described as the biggest jazz club in town, though that’s more because of its extensive programme of concerts; it could also be called the smallest, due to its size. Many customers say that it feels like coming to a jazz club in New York.

The venue is only 30 square metres, with small tables and a space reserved for a band. On the walls, you will see photos of jazz legends and musicians who have played at the jazz club. “The musicians are right where the audience is sitting. We always say that you’re sitting right in the middle of the music, and everyone can see the performers,” says Kerstin Sterner. She runs Glenn Miller Café with her husband Ulf, a jazz musician who took over the jazz club in 1999.

The jazz café is open six evenings per week and has an impressive programme with modern jazz concerts. On Mondays, Glenn Miller Café hosts Classic Extended. “On Mondays, anything can happen,” says Sterner. “We have everything from opera to piano and violin, from folk music to classic jazz and flamenco. Regardless of day of the week, we have fantastic musicians who perform.”

The menu at Glenn Miller Café is inspired by French cuisine, with delicacies such as Bouillabaisse, Ratatouille and no less than six types of Moules Frites. Of course, desserts are on the menu too, for anyone with a sweet tooth – how about a tasty Crème Brulée? “Dinner guests are more than welcome, but we do remind people that conversations should be limited during the concerts,” says Sterner.

If you happen to be in Stockholm in October, Stockholm Jazz Festival is a must. Scandinavia’s biggest jazz festival, with more than 250 concerts in Stockholm, takes place 9-18 October. As always, Glenn Miller Café will participate and will stay open every day during the festival. Sterner admits; “Sometimes, I jokingly say that our jazz festival at Glenn Miller Café runs all year round.”
