One of the biggest draws nearby is the iconic Forest Lagoon with its geothermal spa, located only minutes from Heiðin. Akureyri, Iceland’s capital of the north, is just a short drive away.

For winter sports enthusiasts, the Hlíðarfjall ski resort is also nearby. Often considered Iceland’s best ski resort, it offers 24 slopes of varying difficulty – and during summer, the slopes become mountain biking trails.
