The Lahti Organ Festival returns for its 54th edition from 3 to 9 August 2026, inviting audiences into a world where sound is felt as much as it is heard.
Every August, the city of Lahti in Finland transforms into a meeting place for some of the world’s finest organists. For one week, organ music fills venues across the city, and the result is a celebration that nourishes both body and soul. The festival has long been one of Finland’s most distinctive cultural events, drawing audiences from near and far.
For international visitors, it is also remarkably easy to reach. Lahti is located just an hour from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and the capital region by train or car. Its compact size makes it effortless to explore between concerts, wander along the lakefront or enjoy the city’s lively summer cafés.

The programme for 2026 will be published in spring, but one thing is already certain: the festival will once again bring an impressive line-up of high-quality concerts to the city. “An organ concert is no longer just about sitting quietly in a church pew. It can be something innovative and unexpected,” says Pauli Pietiläinen. Whether you are a lifelong devotee of organ music or completely new to the genre, the festival welcomes everyone with open arms.
Past editions have never shied away from the surprising. Performances have paired organ music with circus arts, ballet, jazz improvisation and even a Harley-Davidson motorcycle with an exhaust system redesigned into an organ pipe so it could perform as a soloist.
According to Pietiläinen, this playful spirit reveals how truly versatile the instrument is. The organ can be meditative and delicate, or overwhelmingly powerful. “We want to showcase the thrilling breadth of the instrument and challenge assumptions about what organ music can be,” he concludes.
