Grouting in offshore wind refers to the process of pumping a high-strength, specialised cement mixture into the gaps between steel foundation elements to lock them together, which securely transfers the massive physical loads to the seabed and ensures long term structural integrity. | Photo: Recirculating jet mixers and silo.
With roots in the Norwegian offshore industry, RaKon is a specialist offshore grouting contractor, delivering advanced grouting solutions for offshore wind and energy projects. Over the years, the company has developed a highly skilled offshore workforce, a strong safety culture and a reputation for quality and reliable project execution.
“Being part of AF Gruppen, one of Norway’s leading industrial and contracting groups, provides access to extensive offshore experience, established management systems, financial strength and a strong culture built around safety, quality and operational excellence,” explains Joakim Navestad Hansen, division manager. “This combination allows us to act with the agility of a specialist contractor, while benefiting from the resources and expertise of a larger organisation.”

A few years ago, RaKon identified offshore wind as a natural growth area: a rapidly expanding market, limited competition within offshore grouting, and an opportunity to leverage offshore concrete expertise in a new segment. Since then, the company has invested heavily in equipment development, testing facilities, industry partnerships and customer relationships.
“Today, we have established a dedicated offshore wind division and positioned ourselves as a specialist offshore grouting contractor, with our own RJM mixing technology, which is one of the most advanced on the market, fabricated offshore-certified silos and are actively bidding for projects across Europe and other international offshore wind markets,” says Navestad Hansen. “As there are currently very few offshore wind projects being developed in Norway, our primary focus is international.”

This summer is an important period for RaKon’s offshore wind initiative. “One of our key priorities is the full-scale demonstration of our RJM mixing technology, where selected customers and industry stakeholders will be invited to see the system in operation,” says Navestad Hansen. “This represents an important milestone as we move from development and testing into commercial deployment.”
RaKon is also continuing its qualification processes with leading grout material suppliers and expanding its engagement with offshore wind developers and installation contractors across Europe. “We view offshore wind not as a future opportunity, but as a market that is scaling right now, and our ambition is to become a leading offshore grouting contractor in Northern Europe,” Navestad Hansen says, and adds: “More broadly, our focus for 2026 is to secure our first offshore wind grouting project, establish a strong reference case and build the foundation for long-term growth in the offshore wind market.”
