Røros boasts a rich food culture, championing regional specialities. The cosy café Kaffestuggu is Røros’ oldest eatery and an important meeting point for the community. Here, you can enjoy traditional fare, all homemade with ingredients from the area.

“In our hotel restaurants and at Kaffestuggu, you can get a real taste and feel of Røros,” says Lindgren. “We’re very proud to be using the best of seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers and artisans.”

According to Lindgren, visitors are always keen to try local delicacies. Among the most popular dishes are reindeer meat and surpølse, a traditional sour sausage. Travellers can also explore the area’s food and drink culture through food safaris, beer tastings and other activities.
