Soundtrack your September 2026 with Scandipop!
By Karl Batterbee
At the start of the summer, Zara Larsson invited Robyn to record a new version of her ode to ‘no, you hang up’ romantic babble on the phone, Puss Puss. Now, Robyn has returned the favour by asking Zara to record a duet version of her own tribute to phone romance, Talk To Me. This is a whole new level of Scandipop genius that could only be unlocked by such a pairing of two titans of the genre. And both songs deserve prime space on your playlists. Puss puss, allihopa!
Robyn fans will also be enamoured by the new tune from Sweden’s Violet Days – Everything’s Coming Up Roses. Much like its title sake, this is an absolute stunner of a song that continues to bloom, blossom and surprise throughout its duration. Nordic electronica at its euphoric finest, I’ve been finding that repeat listens are rewarded with new gems to uncover within the production every time. And there have been a lot of repeat listens.
After the extremely promising debut single 112 arrived with bells and whistles aplenty from Ida, the Finnish artist has more than lived up to that promise with the follow-up. Väärä Nainen had already been used in over 20,000 TikTok videos ahead of it coming out in mid-August. Then, following its release, it shot straight to Number 1 on Spotify Finland, with just shy of 300,000 streams on that platform alone – the third-highest first-day total for a Finnish song ever!
Finally, two more superstars of Swedish pop have reunited for a brand-new song together after their huge Number 1 Lost & Found. If the new single Victor Leksell and Molly Sandén, Tänk Om, doesn’t hit all of your feels on listen alone, then check out their super-cute music video for it, which takes us right back to the glory days of The Office!
