Spik Studios delivers bespoke interiors with a focus on the guest experience. Cosy spaces you want to visit and return to – and that add long-term value for clients. Known for its evocative concepts, this Swedish hospitality partner is preparing for a new international venture: a beach hotel in Florida.

Established in Gothenburg in 2010, Spik Studios is a hospitality partner that develops concepts, delivers interiors, and manages the procurement of both furnishings and supplies. But this is far from Scandinavian minimalism; Spik Studios is better known for its warm, cosy and colourful designs.

“It’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about taking more responsibility. We create environments that generate commercial value while strengthening our clients’ brands and enhancing the guest experience,” says Daniel Berg Stocks, CEO. “Our strength lies in transforming ideas and visions into executable concepts – from mood board to final delivery – with an emphasis on quality and commercial performance.”

The firm’s focus is hospitality, with three competencies under the same roof: Design, Collection and Essentials – something the CEO calls the final layer. “We help clients with products and details that guests experience every day – such as art, textiles and plants – with a consistent guest experience in mind. This is the final layer of the design, which adds a comfy boutique hotel atmosphere, like being in someone’s home. It makes a big difference.”

From notable Nordic hotels…

Over the past few years, Spik Studios has been involved in creating several high-profile hotel and resort destinations in Sweden, Norway and Denmark – where design and atmosphere have helped build the hotel’s identity.

The big breakthrough came with Steam Hotel in Västerås. The 100-year-old power plant found new life as a boutique hotel with spa, three restaurants and a bar, blending industrial energy with new romanticism. “Steam Hotel has become a destination,” says Berg Stocks. “Looking at the power plant’s heritage, we managed to provide a premium finish with natural materials, something you’ll see in many of our other projects.”

Spik Studios is also behind Maryhill Estate, a glamorous countryside hotel in Skåne. This premium getaway received plenty of international recognition when opening and has become a must-visit destination. Thanks to a thorough renovation, the estate offers timeless elegance with modern comforts – celebrating the art of leisure. Not surprisingly, this is also a popular wedding venue.

Another exclusive retreat is Rox Resort in Køge, around 30 minutes from Copenhagen. With the newly opened hotel, the team at Spik Studios channelled the harbour setting. “The concept merges Scandinavian design with an Asian twist,” explains Berg Stocks. The cinematic vibe transports guests with mirrored surfaces, velvet textures, and brass details – making for a mysterious yet warm and welcoming vibe.

A fourth example is Grand Joanne in Copenhagen, a modern and eclectic hotel with heaps of personality. “The design concept was based on various women who had a connection to the place,” explains the architect. “We created personalities for these women that would in different ways reflect the guests we envisioned visiting the hotel, and applied this to the layout as well as the choice of materials, colours and details.”

…to the beach in Fort Lauderdale

Spik Studios is taking the next step on its journey, with an upcoming hotel renovation project in Florida. Pelican Grand Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale has a fantastic location and great potential to develop into an even stronger destination. “This is a dream project,” enthuses Berg Stocks. “With Pelican, we have the opportunity to bring our experience from the Nordic hospitality industry and combine it with Florida’s climate, lifestyle and more relaxed beach culture.”

The ambition is not to create a Scandinavian hotel in Florida, however. Instead, the team wants to develop a dreamy and relevant Fort Lauderdale experience – with the conceptual sharpness and holistic view found in its Nordic projects. “To be able to work together with Spik Studios and mix the best of both worlds, to create a unique experience for our guests for many years to come, feels fantastic,” says Cassandra Jertshagen, CEO of Jefast, property owner.

Next year, Spik Studios will have the concept and layouts ready and renovation of the guest rooms is set to begin in 2028. The following year is when renovation of public spaces and the pool area will commence. No doubt, the prestigious renovation of Pelican Grand Beach Resort marks the beginning of a new chapter for Spik Studios: from a strong position in Nordic hospitality to a more international market.
