It was originally constructed in 1916 by Orkla Grube Aktiebolag and has since occupied an important place in the story of Løkken Verk. For many years, it was known as Orkla Hotell, and functioned as a gathering place for both local residents and visitors. Important meetings were held here, celebrations took place within its walls, and the house became a social hub in the community. Today, the historic property continues to play a meaningful role while preserving its rich cultural significance.

“Orkla Gjestebolig is an industrial heritage landmark,” says Siv Åse Syrstad, managing director of Orkla Herd. “Our role today is to create activity in the house and communicate the rich history of both Orkla and Løkken Verk.”

When arriving at the guest house, visitors step into a stately yet inviting atmosphere. The property offers 25 guest rooms alongside meeting facilities, a banquet hall and several comfortable lounges that create spaces for both larger and more intimate gatherings. While Orkla Gjestebolig has a strong focus on the corporate market, providing ideal settings for seminars, meetings and company retreats, it has also become a sought-after destination for private celebrations. “We facilitate celebrations, conferences and events in beautiful surroundings,” Syrstad explains. “We are also an ideal location for anniversaries and different kinds of celebrations, and the perfect wedding destination.”

Food is essential to the experience. Rather than offering a standard concept, each menu is tailored according to the event and the guests themselves. Seasonal ingredients, local traditions and modern flavours form the basis of every culinary experience. “At Orkla Gjestebolig, great food experiences are at the centre of everything we do,” says Syrstad. “We tailor every menu to each occasion.”
