Founded by longtime friends Eda Lerzan Bækkevold and Derya Albayrak Reite, Uliq celebrates quality craftsmanship, natural materials and sustainable production. The brand has been dedicated to bringing unique, thoughtfully designed pieces to customers since its launch last year.

With backgrounds in architecture and civil engineering respectively, Bækkevold and Albayrak Reite share a deep interest in structure, aesthetics and quality. Driven by a shared passion for well-designed, high-quality products that stand the test of time, the idea for Uliq was formed.

Uliq: Good things take time

The name is inspired by the words unik (unique) and ulik (different). The product range has been carefully curated, each item designed and produced with purpose. “Our name is both a promise and a reminder that differences are what make us beautiful,” the friends say. “We hope our customers see that our products have been chosen with care.”

Committed to natural materials and sustainable practices, Uliq is the culmination of many heartfelt conversations around design and mindful production. The founders are concerned about the way many things are produced quickly and replaced just as fast in today’s society. “For us, quality isn’t just about how a product looks – it’s the feeling of owning something that was actually made to last. Quality materials and great craftsmanship can live on for generations,” they say. “We believe that good things take time.”

Uliq values natural fibres and refined materials that provide long-lasting, timeless products which can be used and enjoyed for years to come. “Genuine leather that softens with age, wool with natural warmth, breathable linen, silk with effortless elegance and comfortable, durable cotton – each piece is carefully crafted with both people and the environment in mind,” Bækkevold and Albayrak Reite explain.

The founders are intentional about collaborating with partners whose values and goals align with their own. “We work with family-owned businesses, skilled artisans and companies that share our belief in slow, quality-conscious production. We want to showcase pieces that reflect the time, skill and care that has gone into making them.”

Uliq is currently working with two producers – Daphmin, designing handmade bags, scarves and other accessories in natural materials such as leather and silk, and Souf, creating adorable soft toys for little ones, each piece hand-sewn and unique.

The founders are always looking for new products to bring to their customers. “We love to discover people, materials and stories that deserve to be celebrated,” they enthuse. “We want to be a bridge between exciting, talented producers and the Norwegian market – it means a lot to us to be able to share their craftsmanship with new customers.”
