In 2017, Aarhus was the European Capital of Culture, and it left a legacy. It gave the entire city a boost, showing what can be achieved when institutions and citizens cooperate on projects, using culture as the driving force. It also gave the city’s Naturhistorisk Museum the courage and curiosity to ask themselves what they want to bring to the table in the future. “We have a strategy for the next many years to make a transformation from a traditional natural history museum that looks at the past, to a modern and inviting museum that looks at and engages with tomorrow,” says Bo Skaarup, museum director at Naturhistorisk Museum.
