Arven, formerly known as Theodor Olsen Sølvvareverksted, was established in 1868. The company showcases Norway’s rich culture and quality craftsmanship – something that is entrenched in Bergen’s history. “Theodor Olsen was a pioneer of silversmithing in Bergen. The word ‘arven’ means legacy or heritage, and we changed the name to reflect the company’s deep-seated history. There’s a long tradition of gold and silversmithing in Bergen, and it has been a focal point of this city for generations. It’s important for us to keep hold of the old traditions and craftsmanship but, at the same time, we’re also creating tomorrow’s heritage,” says Torill Hesjedal Hartwig, sales and marketing manager at Arven 1868.
